NCTC - Junior Programs

Sunday Afternoon Junior Priority Court Time - Sunday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm are priority court time for juniors. This year we will continue our successful challenge match Sundays in a league format with a year-end playoff. This is an excellent opportunity for the juniors to work on what they’ve been learning in lessons. Talk to the club Pro Brian Draxl to see if this activity is suitable for you.

Junior Invitational Events – We plan to hold our very popular “Junior Invitational” events for intermediate and advanced players on selected Sundays during the summer. This may comprise singles and doubles play in an individual or team-oriented format. Play will be by invitation only.

Junior club tournaments - We plan to run our annual junior club championship singles tournaments for juniors again this year. The tentative tournament dates are September17th and 18th. 2011

Inter-County Teams – Once again we will have Boys, Girls and mixed teams in the Inter-County Tennis Association League for our top competitive juniors. These teams play Saturday mornings from early May until mid- July against other clubs from Mississauga to Pickering. Mixed teams play Sunday afternoons.

End-of-Year Junior Awards - The Susan V. Swail Junior Achievement Awards go to the juniors (boy and girl) best exhibiting the qualities of performance, participation, improvement and sportsmanship. The 2010 winners were Jelena Grkovic and Scott Berchem.

Congratulations to all of our juniors who participate in OTA-sanctioned tournaments!

At the time of writing several of our members have very high provincial rankings.

Check the OTA website at http://www.tennisontario.com for the latest results. NCTC plans to host our own OTA -sanctioned tournaments, in different age groups, again this year. Enter if you are eligible, or come out and watch some great tennis as the best juniors in the Club and the province will be competing.
